After the end of Princess Tutu, I wanted more. Immediately. Not that it´s a bad ending. For those who haven´t seen it, it´s a wonderful ending...but I still wanted more. This fic does that more beautifully, carefully, simply but tenderly...and all of the other adverbs ending in "ly" that you could think of. It´s true to the hearts of the characters and the style of the story, and gets the details so very right that I felt the whole thing was playing out right in front of me. If you felt the way I did at the end of Tutu, go read this fic, and then come tell me what you think of it. I´m at this screenname, on gmail. ALSO, it´s at Yuletide, a yearly fic gifting site where people request fics with particular themes, pairings, etc., in their favorite pairings, and other wonderful people (who don´t even KNOW THEM, how cool is that??) write them. This is my first Tokka rec, yay! Hopefully no one reading has a problem with me not putting forward a particular ATLA ship in this journal...because I´m trying really hard not to. And because doing it this way gives me the chance to put forward ships that might otherwise contradict each other...so far, I´ve featured a Taang and a Sukka to this Tokka and a couple each of Kataang and Zutara...I need to expand into some of the more cracky ships, don´t I??

But as for this piece, it´s a lovely, very understated but still very sweet look at the way Toph and Sokka would be as a couple. The thing I love about the possibility of this relationship is that they wouldn´t need any sweeping declarations or anyone else´s approval...they´d just be happy being together. That feeling is captured perfectly in nuvolaluz´s piece. And, at just under 900 words long, it´s a fast read too.

I tend to think of Kataang as the fluffy ship of ATLA, so I look for pieces that at least show that side of it. Even though Aang´s face here is a little...mischievous...they´ve definitely got the happy fuzzy thing going on. And they look exactly the way I imagine them looking in a few years, maybe after the war is over and they´re travelling around together touring the lands they only saw in war? Set it where you like it, but go enjoy this piece now! Beware, though, if you have slow internet - it is rather large.

It´s written from Aang´s perspective and done perfectly that way because it´s a song with somewhat rambly, silly lyrics that are exactly the way Aang would be if he and Toph got together. When you get to the post, click the link, then the banner that says "You" An Aang/Toph tribute, and then click play. Yes, you get to hear the artist singing the song she wrote, and doing a fine job of it too.

Okay, so clearly I´m more than a little excited about this. AVATAR MOVIES, YAAAAY! And they´re casting real, live actors, who aren´t stars yet so they have lots of time to grow up and get to be big stars. The only thing I´m worried about is that M. Night Shyamalan is making at least the first one...I haven´t liked any of his movies all that much since The Sixth Sense. Still, it doesn´t say he´s writing the script, just directing, and he doesn´t have to make it a thriller, so my hopes are still high.

In closing, AVATAR TRILOGY = AMAZING IDEA!!! :DDD

I´m a pretty big fan of Sokka. This is partly because he´s really good comic relief, but it´s actually mostly because he´s so eager and sincere all the time (even if he is really sarcastic). Probably my favorite thing about this piece is how those two things about him come across even in a very simple pose and expression.

This is the first really long fic I´ve read for ATLA, and I absolutely love it! The writing is very well put together, as are the characters. Personally, I especially love the way Toph and Zuko are written, and their relationship to each other. It´s obvious this author has been doing this for a long time, and hopefully she´ll continue! She also has several other chaptered fics and series in ATLA that I hope to read and rec here. However, be warned, this fic contains some relatively adult themes: spying, imprisonment, hurting of prisoners to get information; it´s PG-13 in how graphic it is, but the ideas are adult. Finally, I´d normally warn you to beware a WIP, since many go unfinished, but with so many finished fics out to the world, and chapters of this one going up about once every other week, I´d say fandomme is going to finish this one, so just go enjoy!

And, on a side note, the link will take you to fanfiction.net, a site where lots of fanwriting is published. You can browse there if you want, but it has always seemed to me that it´s a better use of time to find ff.net fanfiction through LiveJournal communities...otherwise you´ll be sorting through a lot of the bad to get to the good.

This is a great piece to ask "what's next?" We all know that the end of the series will have to do with defeating the Fire Nation, since that's what Aang set out to do, but we don't know what will happen in the Avatar's life after that, and this fic sets up a possibility that I really like. But be ready, it ends a lot sooner than you think it's going to.

I've been devouring Doctor Who fic since I started the series about three weeks ago, and Gillian Taylor is the best author I've found yet. Better yet, lots of her writing is G and PG rated, so everyone can enjoy it. In this piece, the Doctor and Rose land on a world slightly different than the one they'd intended and find something that the Doctor hadn't even thought existed anymore. It's a lot like having another episode in season one, but with a little less running around and a little more Rose and Doctor talking...so pretty much perfect, in my eyes.

This is one of my favorite post-book 7 fics, by one of my favorite authors, sarahtales (although most of her fiction is much more adult). Essentially, Harry learns that his two sons who have been visiting Durmstrang are lost in its sewers, which have giant alligators. Naturally, he's very worried. Draco learns the same thing about his son, and is also, naturally, very worried. Reluctantly, and with lots of insults, they set off together to find their children.
